A similar event is also being planned in Poland around the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championships
Rome, Italy, March 20, 2014 – As the volleyball community countdowns to
the much awaited FIVB Volleyball World Championships this year, a younger
version of the tournament – the ‘Kids World Championship 2014’ – was launched in
the Italian cities of Rome and Lazio on March 17. The event was initiated and promoted by the Organizing Committee of Rome but will
also involve the other host cities of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World
Championship Italy 2014 namely Bari, Milan, Modena, Trieste and Verona. More than 2,500 children representing 24 institutions including primary
and secondary schools in Rome and Lazio, will take part in the "Kids World
Championship 2014". The final phase of the championship will take place at
the PalaLottomatica and will be held under the patronage of the City of Rome,
with the support of local sponsor Acea SpA.The men’s and women’s FIVB Volleyball World Championships are staged
every four years and are the most prestigious event in international volleyball.The first FIVB Volleyball World Championships were organised in 1949 for
men and 1952 for women and have remained the biggest event in volleyball.
