Today we played on our highest level - Aleksandr Chervyakov

Trieste, Italy, October 4, 2014 – Azerbaijan won three points in Saturday’s evening match in Pool E, defeating Croatia 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-23) at 2014 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Trieste.

Azerbaijan coach Aleksandr Chervyakov: We did not play well in the last two matches. Today we wanted to prove ourselves and play on our highest level. We want to thank our country for the support they have sent us.

Azerbaijan captain Oksana Kurt: Today we played as a team. Not all of our players have the experience to play at such a high level. Polina is our leader in attack but today the whole team blocked and received well.

Croatia coach Angelo Vercesi: Congratulations to Azerbaijan. They played a very solid game and showed their strong character. They did very well in reception and attack. Polina is an outstanding player but around her, there are a brilliant setter and excellent teammates.

Croatia captain Maja Poljak: First of all congratulations to Azerbaijan. We were not able to play well in all the elements of the game. Azerbaijan was efficient in block, serve and especially in attack. They played much better than we did.
