Croatia tops mini volleyball tournament as Modena waits for big stars to come to town

 

The winners of the mini volleyball tournament organised in Modena were awarded by former Olympic and world champion Taismary Aguero

Modena, Italy, September 29, 2014 – With only two days to go before PalaPanini opens its doors to six of the teams that have made the second stage of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014, the mini volleyball competition organised by the local Organising Committee came to an end with Team Croatia topping the final standing.

Team Croatia – represented by CSI Clai Solovolley Imola – won the final match with Turkey (GS Pallavolo Vignola) but did so only at the tie-break. The final match was played in a best-of-three format. The Netherlands (Progresso Volley) completed the podium after their 2:0 victory over Team Germany (Volley San Cesario).



The eventual winners of the competition were awarded by Olympic and world champion Taismary Aguero and former volleyball star Francesco “Pupo” Dall’Olio.



The teams travelling to Modena on Monday afternoon are USA and Russia from Pool C held in Verona as well as Turkey and Bulgaria that finished their campaign in Pool B in third and fourth place respectively.
