Germany huddle against Tunisia

Rome, Italy, September 25, 2014 – Germany won the first match of Day 3 of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 Pool A with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-7) victory over Tunisia in Rome on Thursday.

- At the start of the first set went out the court Stefanie Karg for an injury

- At the first set Tunisia had a 3 attack percent

- Tunisia has not won a set in their three matches of  2014 World Championship

- The score of the first and third set were for Tunisia the worse of their 2014 World Championship

- Jennifer Pettke was the best scorer of the match with 11 points. Tunisian best scorer was Fatma Agrebi with six attacks on 18 attempts.




Germany won the first set 25-7. After only three points Karg went out with an injury. Tunisia coach called the first time out at 4-0 under. A wonderful spike of Maren Brinker when the score was 5-0. Germany managed easily the set and it created a big margin of advantage going up 15-4. Messelmeni called the second timeout as his team was trailing 18-4. Germany won the first set very easily.

In the second set, there wasn’t an unbelievable comeback of Tunisia and Germany managed this set like the first. Messelmeni called the first time out trailing 6-2. When arrived the first technical time out the score was 8-3. Tunisia wasn't successful in setting the pace of their opponents and Germany went up 12-6. A display of aggressive attacks of Germany created a wide margin between two teams the score was moved up to 16-7. Messelmeni called the second timeout as his team was trailing 20-9. An ace of Jennifer Geerties by the score of 23-11. The set was closed by the score 25-12. The home team won the set thanks also to good receptions with a 50 percent.

In the third set, Germany managed always the match. At the first technical time out the score was 8-2. A great spike by Germany’s Louisa Lippman and the score went up 16-4 for her team. Tunisia’s coach called the first timeout as his team was trailing 19-6.Tunisia didn’t be successful to stand the pace of their opponents. Messelmeni called the second opcional time out by the score of 22-6. The home team won the set with the score of 25-8.
