Ognjenovic: "To beat the Netherlands was not easy"

 

Serbia have now won five of their six matches

Verona, Italy, October 1, 2014 – Serbia said regardless winning in straight sets it was not an easy victory against a strong Netherlands in the opening match of the second round at PalaOlimpia on Wednesday.

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic: “Before the game we were scared because we knew that the Dutch team is a very strong one. It has been a very hard competition, I'm satisfied but now we have only to think about play still better in the next match.”

Serbia captain Maja Ognjenovic: “We had some problems in the first part of the match, because they (the Netherlands) spiked very hard, and was difficult to stop them sometimes. We won in straight sets so it could seem an easy victory, but it wasn't.”

Netherlands coach Gido Vermeulen: “Serbia has proved to be one of the top teams during the year. They have a very strong team with Olympic level players, we are just building our team, so I'm very proud of our performance.”

Netherlands captain Robin De Kruijf: “Every set was very close, Serbia has a very good team, we knew that, but I think we missed on the ends, we had a really good block in front of us, we have to be smarter on our attacks."
