Focused Kazakhstan excited for their first victory at the World Championship

Mexico's reaction in the third set did not suffice to overpower a determined Kazakhstan

Verona, Italy, September 27, 2014 – Kazakhstan said keeping focused was the key to their first victory at the FIVB Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 as they beat Mexico 3-0 at PalaOlimpia on Saturday.

Kazakhstan captain, Korinna Ishimtseva: “The team is very happy for their first victory in the tournament and we have to keep the concentration for the next match. This victory helps us to keep the enthusiasm that we need tomorrow for the match against Thailand. This will be the most important match of the Championship and we need to win in order to play also in the second phase.”

Coach of Kazakhstan, Oleksandr Gutor: “We played well in the first two sets. The end of the third set went down because of our attitude, I think it was only a psychological problem. We are ready for tomorrow, a match important to carry on the tournament.”

Mexico captian Andrea Rangel: “My team will learn a lot from this experience, above all the support we received from Italian people who were at PalaOlimpia today and from our Mexican supporters through the social media. We didn’t manage to win but we’ll give everything in tomorrow`s match to close this World Championship in the best way possible.”

Mexico’s coach Jorge Miguel Azair: “Today has not been our best performance, we made a few mistakes that allowed Kazakhstan to win easily. We’re a young team who still have to improve but we’re happy to be here and to play with really great teams. I will take a lot from this experience. I enjoyed Italy, above all Venice and Italian pasta and pizza of course.”
