José Mieles: It's a hard fought victory for Puerto Rico

 

Puerto Rico celebrate first victory at 2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship.

Bari, Italy, September 24, 2014 – Puerto Rico defeated Cuba 3-0 for their first win at the 2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship and coach José Mieles thought it was a hard fought victory.

Cuba coach Juan Carlos Gala Rodriguez: Team today was in great condition, we knew we would compete equal rivals. We can try our utmost even better. Tomorrow we are going to have a very hard game, but we do not want to give up. We would like to run this championship the best way we can.

Cuba captain Sulian Linares Matienzo: We were not compact, what we need is to improve our team play.

Porto Rico coach José Mieles: The match was really hard fought. We are really satisfied with this result, very much motivated.

Puerto Rico captain Yarimar Rosa: I believe our strength comes from good receiving, Cuba's service has been really great today. This is our achievement even for tomorrow's match.
