Women's World Championship Trophy Tour to launch in Rome

 

Rome, Italy, June 6, 2014 – Volleyball fans across Italy will have the chance to see exactly what the 24 teams competing at the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship, Italy 2014 are fighting for when the World Championship tours the country. 

Teams are playing for a
 brand new trophy at Italy 2014 and fans will have the first chance to see the trophy at the tour launch at Rome’s Foro Italico before and after Italy’s men’s matches against Poland in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World League on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8. 

Rome will also kick off the World Championship on September 23 to mark 20 days of fierce volleyball action across the country before the winners are decided at the gold medal match in Milan on October 12.

The trophy tour will help tell the story of the Women’s World Championship, which first took place in 1952 and is now into its 17th edition. Personal testimonies will tell of the sacrifices that players went through to win the most coveted of volleyball titles and what is needed to finish victorious at a World Championship.
