Vermeulen satisfied with victory over hybrid Kazakhstan

Vermeulen interviewed in the mixed zone after the Netherlsand's first win at PalaOlimpia

Verona, Italy, September 23, 2014 - Quotes from the Netherlands and Kazakhstan coaches after the Netherlands beat Kazakhstan in straight sets at PalaOlimpia on Tuesday.

Netherlands coach Gido Vermeulen:

"It was not an easy game. Kazakhstan is a strange team with an Asian style and a Russian style together so we always have to be very focused. I thought we played well in the first two sets. In the third set Kazakhstan showed they are a good team and we had to fight back to win the game."

"We go to the hotel and have a rest before coming back here to watch Thailand. We play them tomorrow so we will bring the team to watch and learn."

Kazakhstan head coach Oleksandr Gutor:

"The first and second set was not too bad, but we lost our attack and block. When we played good defence we did not use our position for successful attack. In the third set we won points but it was about our mistakes. Yesterday we had to switch our team around but I hope the next game will be better."

"We will work out what went wrong. We could practice at 7pm but it's not good for our schedule with dinner and a meeting."
