Rome, Italy, September 27, 2014 – Italy conquered the fourth consecutive match in this FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014, winning 3-1 over Germany.

Italy coach Marco Bonitta said: Luckily after the first set we managed to shift the balance of the match to our side. At the end it was a deserved victory. (Eleonora) Lo Bianco and (Carolina) Costagrande came into the court during the match were so important. During the Grand Prix I thought a lot on what I should have to do. After Lucia Bosetti’s injury, I had to reflect on this point."

Italy captain Francesca Piccinini: Germany was very aggressive from the beginning, doing very well in the first line. Then we set the serve and became aggressive on our time. They served very well at the beginning. In the first set the credit was in great part of Germany and ours the fault, even if at the end we increased the level."

Germany coach Giovanni Guidetti: "Volleyball is the sport where you play with two teams. Italy is very strong. It wasn't a surprise. When coach Bonitta has went on the court with Antonella Del Core and Valentina Diouf it changed the outcome of the match. Fundamentally it has been an excellent match of Italy.”

Germany captain Margareta Kozuch: "I think we have started very well, for us it is very important to win tomorrow. The first set is okay, but after Italian block and the service was good. After the first set, Italy played more aggressive in service and was more aggressive. For us it has became very difficult to defeat it. The important part is to be focused for tomorrow against Dominican Republic.
