Palaflorio, one of the venues hosting the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Italy 2014, is being dressed up for the start of the competition on September 23
Bari, Italy, September 18, 2014 - The city of Bari will be hosting first and second round matches of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014, which takes place from September 23 to October 12. The first match at the Palaflorio venue takes place on Tuesday, September 23 and sees China take on Puerto Rico.
Palaflorio – which is named after the late Pietro Florio, a former president of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) – is now dressed up with banners and huge boards advertising the World Championship.
The FIVB's premier competition for women's national teams is coming to town for the first time and there is a great deal of excitement in Bari ahead of the event, with the Italian team also featuring in the second round lineup. Palaflorio, which has a capacity of 4,500 seats, will first host the national teams of Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Cuba, Japan and Puerto Rico for the first round of the Women's World Championship, from September 23-28.
