"Our dream is to end up in the World's top ten" Turkey coach Barbolini

Still pretty good friends: Turkey's Barbolini and Netherland's Vermeulen

Modena, Italy. October 4, 2014 – Neither Turkey nor the Netherlands had chances left to go to the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 final six, but they fought with pride in Pool F match. Turkey won 3-1 with over 4,500 in attendance.

Massimo Barbolini, Turkey coach: “The Dutch made it hard for us to win, so congratulations are in order. We have always played great volleyball, except for the first three matches in Trieste. So we feel some regret now, but we still can enter the world’s top 10 and that’s what we will fight for against Kazakhstan."

Gozde Sonsirma, Turkey captain: “The Dutch were brilliant tonight, so congratulations to us for being able once again to overcome the initial disadvantage with a proud performance."

Gido Vermeulen, the Netherlands coach: “During this World Championship we have shown many times that we can play excellent volleyball, but we lack of consistency and we showed it in tonight’s fourth set. Congratulations to my good friend Massimo Barbolini and to Turkey."

Robin De Kruijf, the Netherlands captain: “We knew Turkey was a tough opponent, but we were convinced we could keep their pace. The fourth set was our occasion, but we didn’t exploit it. Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves."
