“Many big challenges ahead: let’s prepare for the next one” USA coach Kiraly said

Seventh wonder: USA beat Bulgaria 3-0

Modena, Italy, October 2, 2014 - Team USA won in straight sets against Bulgaria in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2014 Pool F, and remains the only team with maximum points (21) after seven matches and 15 points that count in the second round standings.

Karch Kiraly, USA coach: “We changed a few of our starters, like Kelsey Robinson and Tori Dixon, and they played a great match. You can only bring 14 at the World Championship, but everyone is giving their contributions. We won all matches so far but we cannot be distracted from the very next match. Otherwise we would almost certainly lose."

Alisha Glass, USA player and match captain: “We played hard, we played as a team and we are really proud of our results. Every match from now on will be more and more difficult, so we must keep focused. The atmosphere here in Modena, a historical place for volleyball fans, was really beautiful, and we will really miss it."

Vladimir Kuzyutkin, Bulgaria coach: “We tried to compete with the USA in the first two sets, but in the third we understood it was simply impossible. We must be honest and admit that our opponents were superior to us."

Elena Koleva, Bulgaria player and match captain: “We are very disappointed by our performance, we were basically never in the game. Anyway, we must keep our focus on the next two matches in order to gain the best possible position in the final ranking."
