Bari, Italy, September 24, 2014 - Azerbaijan coach Aleksandr Cherviakov said he was really glad of the 3-2 victory over Japan in their opening match at the 2014 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship.
Azerbaijan coach Aleksandr Cherviakov: I am really glad of this victory, not only because of the tireless efforts and attitude of the team on the court, but also because we managed to beat one of the favorite teams of the tournament. This is a surprising and heartening result.
Azerbaijan captain Osaka Kurt: Firstly, I would like to thank the whole staff who has supported us and contributed to achieve this great result. Secondly, I am really grateful to all my team palyers who really tried their utmost and made this unexpected victory possible.
Japan coach Masayashi Manabe: I would like to congratulate our opponent team for their victory. We are very regretful for our result. We do need to regain focus and restore the balance. We will try to improve, starting from the next match tomorrow.
