Marichev: “Brazil were really strong today”

Tatiana Kosheleva's top scoring performance did not suffice to stop Brazil

Verona, Italy, October 4, 2014 – Russia coach Yury Marichev said Brazil was too strong an opponent as they came back after trailing nine points behind Russia in the fourth set on Saturday.

Brazil captain Fabiana Claudino: “Congratulation to all my team. It was hard playing against Russia because they have strong attacks and blocks. Tomorrow it will be a very hard match because USA play very well too.”

Brazil coach Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes: “Our difficulties appeared in the second and fourth set, especially in the fourth because Russia were leading 20-11 before we came back. This is a very important victory because Russia is a very strong team and they are the champion. We knew they were really good at attacking and is always hard playing against them.”

Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko: “We prepared for today’s match in order to win and we didn't prepare anything special. It was important for us to win both today and tomorrow and it's a pity we couldn't make it today. Our girls were tired and didn't bright us to the victory.”

Russia coach Yury Marichev: “It's a real pity that we didn't make it today. Brazil was really strong. I'm really sorry we lost.”
