Andrea Lucchetta greets young patient.

Bari, Italy, October 4, 2014 – Italian volleyball legend Andrea Lucchetta has greeted the young patients of the Pediatric Onco-Hematology Ward of Polyclinic Hospital during his visit to the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Bari.

Lucky, as he has been nicknamed, shared sets and smiles while being accompanied by Doc. Santoro and some members representing the non-profit A.Ge.B.E.O. e amici di Vincenzo 's association, which since 2013 has been providing concrete and psychological help to all those families forced to experience the dreadful drama of childhood leukemia, thanks to the untiring dedication of Michele Farina (President of A.GeB.E.O.) along with 150 volunteers involved in it.

Danilo Piscopo, the Local Organizing Committee Chair of Bari (LOC), was also present on the occasion: "Once again, Lucky has proved to have a great heart. He has managed to present families and their children with smiles despite their mutual suffering. We have extracted a promise we might be meeting them training in volleyball in a gym in the future. Sports, and volleyball especially, support children even when they are forced into leaving the court for long periods of treatment", he said.

The guests included also two young local volleyball players who showed their ability while playing with Lucky. Once again, he has combined being a champion in life and a star player on the court.
