Maja Poljak is middle blocker of Croatia and Turkish club Eczacibasi Vitra. Maja is daughter (born 1983 in Split) of Zeljko Poljak, well-known former Croatian basketball player. She is playing for senior national team since World Cup 1999 in Japan and her biggest success until now with Croatia is Silver medal at the 1999 European Championship in Italy. However, this summer she is expected to make major breakthrough with national team in World Grand Prix and FIVB World Championship 2014 in Italy.
Maja started her career in Mladost Zagreb, best Croatian club, and as 18 years old in 2000 moved to Vicenza Volley in Italy. After three years in Vicenza, until 2008 she was key player of Bergamo Volley. In Bergamo Maja Poljak won two Champions League titles and several domestic Italian trophies. In summer 2008 she left Italy for Turkish team Türk Telekom. Her next station was VakıfGüneş Istanbul, where she won her third Champions League title 2010-2011. Last three season she spend in another club from Istanbul Eczacıbaşı.
During long and prosperous career Maja Poljak developed her volleyball skills to world-class level. Although she played 15 senior seasons in her career, Maja still does not think about retirement. She prolonged contract with Eczacıbaşı and stated that she would like to play with Croatia at 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
