Masters Open squash players drum up support for World Championship

Players from the region of Apulia participating in the upcoming Italian Masters Open proudly wear T-shirts with the official logo of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship Italy 2014

Bari, Italy, September 12, 2014 – The promotion of the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 continues and this weekend the highlight of this year’s volleyball calendar will be showcased at the Italian Open Masters squash tournament, which is set to take place in the seaside resort of Riccione on the Adriatic Riviera.

In his first match in the tournament – which will be streamed live on the web – Bari native Lello Amato will be wearing a T-shirt with the official logo of the World Championship.

“I am very proud that such a world-class event is coming to my home town,” says Amato. Bari will be one of the host cities of the World Championship. “For this reason I will use my performance at the Italian Open as an opportunity to advertise it as extensively as possible.”

Around 130 players from all over Europe are set to compete this weekend in Riccione.

“We have four players from our city competing this weekend in Riccione,” says Dino Ranieri, the chairman of the Bari Squash Centre. “These include Cosimo Iacopetta, who was born in Australia but has been living in our region for about 10 years. This way we can say that our team reflects the international aura of the Volleyball World Championship Italy 2014.”
